Abstract

STM and time-of-flight electron emission experiments were used to study SPO assisted response of a gold film to strong fs laser pulses. In the TOF case the electron spectra were measured not only in the normal form of p-polarization of the incident laser light, but also as the function of the angular dependence of the plane of polarization. In addition to electron pairing, the stepping in of diamagnetism and of an anomalous magneto-optical effect was also found, all effects in a limited laser intensity range around 80 GW/cm2. Six independent effects were observed with the two experimental set-ups and in addition to their brief description, the qualitative explanation is also given.
